STREET+WATER+Pentax 645Z Medium Format

Join me in this colorful adventure

Wet streets are one of my favorite events to photograph in New York, it is so satisfying to click and to see the results under these weather conditions, it is a street prize for anybody that can look through the viewfinder and can resist getting the soft and constant drizzle of New York on the face. For this photo essay used the medium format Pentax 645Z with the HD Pentax 28-45 mm/4.5, a camera that is able to capture so much information in very low light conditions.

Sunapee Mount Folliage in Full Color

This is fall in Mount Sunapee. My wife and I took the chair lift to the top of the mountain, the view was breathtaking, the fresh air was loaded with green smells. I closed my eyes after we noticed the sound of millions of leaves, we were alone in this vast and colorful place, knowing that all that magnificent landscape were about to change very quickly.

Maceió, Downtown.

Maceió, Downtown.

I'm officially starting this Travel Blog with Maceió, Maceió is a a city in Brazil, capital of the state of Alagoas in the North East of Brazil. This is my first picture there, that night everything around was pretty quite, only the delivery guys were back & forward. Although the stillness of the city my goal was to capture some of the activity in the suburbs.

We rented an amazing apartment in Air B&B, no doubt that was a brilliant idea from Annika, my brilliant wife.

The lighting set up that I used for this pictures was quick and fun. I used 2 Speed Lights YN600EX-RT with the transmitter YN-E3-RT and 2 light stands, one of the coolest features of this lights is the fact that the radio receiver is built into the lights, you don't need to attache any extra piece of equipment. The versatility of this set up is limit less, super portable and light weight. To light these group of people the first thing that I did was to find a shade because the sun was right on top of us. I put a flash on the left side of the frame and the other behind the group with 2 purposes, create a rim light and mimic the sun, yes, the sun in the picture is my flash.

Sometimes you have a clear idea from what angle you want to shoot, but sometimes no, in my case I like to move around my subjects as much as I can, and while moving around is when I find the best pictures, this is an example.

I believe in sharing...

I learned most of my photography skills by practicing, but also from the wisdom that so many photographers shared on the web that inspired me to start this blog. I believe that outstanding education should be free and accesible to everyone, and internet is a mayor player in this endeavor. From now on I will post my personal photographic experiences.
